external mic doesn't work - ALSA - 82801H

Hello
i have dell vostro 1500 with sound card:

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02)

i had a problem with mic. it wasnt working at all.
After i created file /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf :

alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=dell-bios power_save=0

Internal mic started to work.
But now i have different problem with mic.
when i plug in external mic my voice is still recording by intenal one, i mean ,plugging in  external mic doesn't switch default recording device.
Also i can not set volume of mic in alsamixer

what i sopose to do to make my external mic work?

Ps. If you need some more information just write what u need and i will post it.Hope u understood all what i meant (I'm not native English speaker)
