Amarok Replacement (Ipod w/ Sonata??)

I'm in the process of getting away from KDE while I explore what I can build with my new Arch install.  So far, everything has gone well as I've taken time to RTFM and I don't have a lot of memory hogging going on with KDE running and loading tons of libs.  Anyway, 2 of my biggest apps that I'll miss are Amarok and K3B.  I think Recorder will suit my needs just fine, but Amarok hurts, I was a fan of the project until Amarok 2 came out, which I never switched to.  So my questions are:

Sonata will serve my music playing/library management needs, but I am lacking adequate Ipod syncing/management.  In Amarok (with a littke work) my Ipod and music library worked well together.  Is there an app that is out there- stable, preferrably light, that will allow for syncing to my Ipod?  I like being able to tell Amarok to queue up a few files, and then transfer them all at once.

I've done a little searching, and I know of gtkpod, however I used that some when I was using Ubuntu, and hated the interface and thought it tried to be Itunes and failed miserably.  Does anyone know if an older version of Amarok (1.4.10) will run without any KDE overhead?

Thanks in advance.
