[SOLVED] PCManFM forgot filetype associations

Hi. As the title says, all of a sudden PCManFM forgot default filetype associations.

What I mean is: I want pdf's to open with evince. When I double click them, they open with gpicview. I right click them, select "open with another program" option, write "evince %s", then check the "establish action by default" option. The file succesfully opens with evince, but whenever I want to open another pdf, it still opens with gpicview by default.

Same story with all other filetypes.

What happened? How can I fix it?

Thanks.

It does nothing. I put "open with evince", accept, but they still open with gpicview (continuing with the example above).

The information should be stored in ~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list. Check if that file is updated as expected when you set a new default app as described in your first post.

Good ideas do not need lots of lies told about them in order to gain public acceptance.

Thank you, that info helped me solve the problem. Astonishingly the file was owned by root and had weird permissions, I chowned it and chmodded it and now everything works fine.
