Hello,there:
I started my life of archlinux just 3 months ago,and everything is OK.As usual,I updated my arch yesterday and nothing wrong at that time. However, when I started my PC today ,I found something strange:I got into xfce4 and just wanna started thunar, just at that time,my CPU hit 100%, my USB mouse and keyboard didn't work. I tried several times but nothing improved.
And then,I tried to reinstall arch.Everything is pretty in my installation before the partition process. In partition process, the installation stopped. I had to reboot it and did it again, but nothing improved.
Finally,I tried to install Ubuntu9.10 while the installation still stopped at partition process as arch.
I bet that there is no problem in the CD of arch and Ubuntu.:(
So what's wrong with my PC?Has any guys here experienced this kind of things?
I really need your help,PLEASE.
P.S.:Hal was included in the packages updated last time so I guess maybe hal contributes to my problem.......:(

Sounds like a hardware problem to me - try to use some live cd or system rescue cd (sysresccd.org) to look at your hard disk - what is the output of 'fdisk -l' ? Is 'cfdisk' able to read your partition tables ? You should make sure your hardware is ok first - then try to figure out the issue - sometimes a too old cdrom also causes grief.
