[SOLVED] Thinkpad T410's brightness and fn hot keys

Hello,

I recently bought a Lenovo Thinkpad T410 and installed ArchLinux 64 bits on it.
Everything works fine except setting brightness..
I am not enable to change brightness level with the Fn hot keys when I am on X. (changing brightness works during boot)

Is there someone who has the same machine and who could give me some tricks?

Thanks.

Use the command "xbacklight". Read "man xbacklight". For example "xbacklight -set 10" reduces backlight to 10%. Then you can bind that command to a function key. For binding methods read: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Extra_Keyboard_Keys and the documentation for your window manager on how to bind multimedia keys to commands.

This command does not work:
$  xbacklight -set 10
No outputs have backlight property

Also there are no files about brightness in /proc directory on my installation...

Re: [SOLVED] Thinkpad T410's brightness and fn hot keys

I got the solution from there: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:T510

Workarounds:

    * To change the brightness, one can switch to a virtual terminal and change it there, and the new brightness will remain when resuming X usage. The following line can be added to the "Devices" section of xorg.conf to enable brightness control while using the nVidia binary driver: Option "RegistryDwords" "EnableBrightnessControl=1" This results in a high-pitched noise emanating from the display, which does not occur when the brightness is changed via the virtual terminal.
