Is netcfg-tray project dead?

Hi there,

I would like to know if someone knows something about iphitus' project, netcfg-tray.

The AUR package misses its md5sum and it has been a long time since last update.
After latest netcfg update and after switching from net-profiles to net-auto-wired + ifplugd, netcfg-tray seems not to work correctly anymore, dysplaying a not-connected icon even when netcfg is connected.

I've tried to report these problems on the AUR page and the forum thread but I did not obtain any answer.

Anyone knows something?
Thanks. neutral

Re: Is netcfg-tray project dead?

I solved my problem with netcfg-tray by configuring /etc/rc.conf correctly, I don't know why I was starting ifplugd as a daemon at startup. Now the icons works correctly, but the AUR package still misses its md5sum.

Re: Is netcfg-tray project dead?

I wanted to post here yesterday that my netcfg-tray is still working correctly, but then I remember I don't use  ifplugd... AFAIK netcfg-tray is a very simple frontend for netcfg, and the internal changes had no effect on netcfg-tray.

Good to here your problem is solved. The missing MD5sum is annoying, but it can be fixed manually really easy: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PKGBUILD (last alinea)

Zl.

Re: Is netcfg-tray project dead?

Posting just to confrm that ifplugd *is* the problem.
If it is started at boot time, netcfg-tray will disply a disconnected icon even if netcfg is correctly connected to the network.
Simply removing ifplugd from /etc/rc.conf solves the problem.
(I still don't understand what is the use of ifplugd since my network connection works perfectly without it and netcfg reconnects to network if I unplug and plug in the cable).

EDIT: Ok, the ifplugd package *is* needed for netcfg-tray to behave correctly but has *not* to be started at boot as a daemon!
Cheers,
