Multiple filesys enable(Three systems in LiveCD)Edited

Can multiple instances of the file system ....cramfs... be instituted such that several instances can run at the same time?

Edit:  Up to eight files are addressable in .cmg files with cramfs limited to 16MB compressed size per file.

The use of zisofs filesystem permits much larger .cmg files to be downloaded into desktop.  For example, OpenOffice 2.0 is 102.2MB in compressed size desktop and decodes to 242.6MB when running in arch.

Thus, one can run three compressed filesystems in a LiveCD since the system is provided for in KnoppixLiveCD..cloop, cramfs and zisofs.

Zisofs permits the use of other Linux applications in arch at 50% size reduction from an installed configuration.

There are probably more possibilities than those I have encountered.
The system involved is called klik and can be found on the Knoppix forum and it does perform in archlinux.

Edit:  In knoppix forum DVD a post states that four iterations of cloop are possible resulting in a DVD disc with 16GB of applications.  This is made possible with 2GB for each cloop iteration and 50% compression factor.

This differs from the .cmg files of klik in that the disc is fixed in its format and doesn't allow downloading of applications which are deleteable and upgradeable thereby.

Perhaps someone has performed the procedure and can describe the performance of the DVD with four cloop iterations

A combo of cloop iterations and .cmg files seems appropo....

Re: Multiple filesys enable(Three systems in LiveCD)Edited

The use of .cmg files with the klik system enables the fullest use of LiveDVD.

Live DVD media is limited to 2.1GB.  With .cmg files, the full media disc can be filled to capacity.

With 2.1GB of compression, the software available decompressed is ~5GB.

With .cmg files added to the burn, the fifty percent compression of these files permits another~4GB of additional software on the same disc.

Thus the media is fully involved and the total applications add up to 9GB on one DVD.

The .cmg files are r/o.

You might like to try it out on Knoppix Live CD!
