[Battery/KDE] Tray icon not changed when plugging AC adaptor

Hello,

I just bought a HP DM3 notebook and everything is working well except two things : battery/ac and ALPS touchpad... I ask you some help here for the battery problem.

I am using KDE but the tray icon for power status (on battery or on AC) is not updated correctly when I plug or unplug the AC adaptor. It is updated only at the reboot of my system.

I have acpid, hal and laptop_mode installed and running.

Result of acpi -V on battery :

[root@laptop orgoz]# acpi -V
Battery 0: Discharging, 30%, discharging at zero rate - will never fully discharge.
Battery 0: design capacity 5089 mAh, last full capacity 4904 mAh = 96%
Adapter 0: off-line
Thermal 0: ok, 35.0 degrees C
Thermal 0: trip point 0 switches to mode critical at temperature 102.0 degrees C
Thermal 0: trip point 1 switches to mode hot at temperature 97.0 degrees C
Thermal 0: trip point 2 switches to mode passive at temperature 95.0 degrees C
Cooling 0: LCD 4 of 10

Cooling 2: Processor 0 of 10

Result of acpi -V on AC :

[root@laptop orgoz]# acpi -V

Battery 0: design capacity 5007 mAh, last full capacity 4826 mAh = 96%

Finally, info on my battery :

# cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info

battery type: Li
OEM info: Hewlett-Packard

Writing this topic, I've just discover one thing !!! If I execute this command :

# cat /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/AC/state

The system detects that my computer is plugged and the tray icon is changed !

Do you have an idea why this is not automatically updated ?

Many Thanks
Regards

Re: [Battery/KDE] Tray icon not changed when plugging AC adaptor

Same here
I have a Dell vostro 1710
acpi reports if the ac power  is connected or not
Power management reflects everything but the power
It used to work fine on gentoo so it is a setting/option/config from arch

Re: [Battery/KDE] Tray icon not changed when plugging AC adaptor

I have the same problem but it's very intermittent.  I haven't been able to find any certain circumstances that make it work or not so since I haven't figured out how to reproduce the problem reliably, I haven't filed a bug report or anything.  Most of the time, my icon won't update when I unplug.  Usually plugging it back in, it works.  In fact, right now, I'm unplugged but my tray icon shows I'm plugged in (but the battery level is decreasing as it should).  I tried the cat line above and it did not cause the icon to update.
