There are some scripts on the web which explain how to make a local repository archlinux, but most are for rsync, my problem is I'm behind a firewall that prevents me from using rsync there any way to do it?
thanks

You'll either need to enable rsync on your firewall or use ntlmaps to download packages via pacman. We had the same issue here and opened up the rsync protocol. Are you trying to make an Arch mirror or just a central place for all your Arch machines to DL pacs from ?

if what I'm trying is to make a local repository for the PC of my LAN, no mirrors like those in arch.
regarding the firewall is iptables would have to open the ports look like rsync?

If your firewall supports iptables you can simply open up the RSYNC port.
So you want to run pacman on your local network?

I'm in the same position as you - no rsync at work ...
However - there is 'lftp' which has a 'mirror'-command - that will easily (for me, on a nightly basis) update your own repo (which I then take home on a usb-disk because I haven't got the bandwidth to do it from home)
