Icecat (and other Firefox-like browsers will not run)

As the title says, I came back to Arch to fix a problem with lxpanel that caused to to not load.  After that, I tried to launch Icecat(it fits into my theme better) and realized it's not showing up.  I looked into the Task Manager(the one with lxde) and saw that it was there, near the bottom with an "S" for the state.  It had no cpu usage and kept at the same memory usage.  I then left it sit for nearly an hour, and it never really started.

I uninstalled it, and tried normal firefox.  This did the same thing and I removed that.  I then went to re-install Icecat and the install hangs at the "patching" part with:

==> Extracting Sources...
  -> Extracting icecat-3.6.tar.bz2 with bsdtar
==> Entering fakeroot environment...
==> Starting build()...
patching file browser/app/profile/firefox.js
Hunk #1 succeeded at 466 with fuzz 2 (offset 213 lines).

I also tried launching through the terminal, to see if there were any messages.  It displayed none.

I am completely baffled on what to do, as I have never seen behavor like this before.

Is the firefox/icecat process still running?  If so, you should first kill it before doing anything else.

I had this problem a few days ago. I reinstalled both firefox and gtk for good measure and it fixed it

I'll try this and see if it helps.

This suggestion has no effect, FF just sits and does nothing and building IceCat gives the same message as above.

Re: Icecat (and other Firefox-like browsers will not run)

This is such a strange problem...anyone have an alternate browser(with some similarities with FF) or a fix for this?

EDIT: the message for the Icecat build is a bit different, now that I upgraded xulrunner:

patching file browser/app/profile/firefox.js
