Custom kernel and lirc? Please advise..

Hi, I've been trying to build a 2.6.10 kernel following the wiki guide but am struggling to get the lirc modules.

If I use the standard arch config without editing it then lirc_dev, lirc_atiusb get built and loaded but if I edit the arch config with xconfig or whatever they don't get built.

I can't see any mention of lirc in the setup, but I'm sure it was there somewhere in 2.6.9.

Any ideas or am I just missing something obvious.

Hmmm, I always seem to ask questions on forums that never get answered.

Did I explain it badly or does nobody have any idea at all?

Any pointers would really be appreciated.
