I did an ordinary pacman update today that included dbus, which broke it. It resulted in Gnome crashing and since then I am presented with the message
"error while loading shared libraries: libdbus-1.so.3 cannot open shared object files: no such file or directory"
Attempts to redo the update have so far been unsuccessful, because a) I cannot use the dbus-dependent wpa_supplement for internet access and b) pacman from local cache reports that libdbus is "cut off at the end".
Any advice?

Read the second part of the first post.
/usr/lib/libdbus-1.so.3 is owned by dbus-core 1.2.24-1

Hi, i'm new here and i get the same error.
I fix it by reinstalling the dbus-core whith pacman -U --force dbus-core....
you can find the package in /var/cache/pacman/pkg or you can download dbus-core from somewhere else.
the --force option replaces every file in the package without checking if exists.
Good luck!

Reinstalling dbus-core from /var/cache/pacman/pkg worked indeed.
Thanks for the help, both of you!
