[SOLVED] alsamixer can't start

If I try to run alsamixer, it won't open. Here's an example:

~ >>> alsamixer
~ >>> sudo alsamixer
Password:
~ >>>

I have it installed obviously, or it would give me an error about the executable not found. I can control it with gvolwheel, but I would like to be able to run it when I use ratposion

Perhaps you need alsa in the daemons entry.

I did have it in there. I find this interesting however:

~ >>> sudo /etc/rc.d/alsa start
~ >>>
~ >>> sudo /etc/rc.d/alsa stop
~ >>>

Maybe because the daemon isn't working?

The alsa daemon script does not do what you think it does.

Have you run out of space on / while updating or similar?

Looks like atleast you pacman db is damaged, and perhaps the installed files too.
-Sf those packages
