Wmii + dbus/hal and automount of usb driver/memory card

Laptop is UL30A. One question. Will USB be automounted when I'm in wmii, or will this just work in gnome?

In general no unless you aren't working with a udev rule 1 or using a volume manager such as skvm. It's in AUR and works flawlessly.

Huh, odd...I've used wmii and automount /generally/ worked well. However, there were some problems. Sometimes there were weird problems, like mounting causing an X crash. Also, write time was abysmally slow.

As an aside, I'm using i3 now, and automount seems to work perfectly.

Anyway, I didn't try skvm, it sounds like a good idea. Ill take that for a test spin this afternoon ;-)

Re: Wmii + dbus/hal and automount of usb driver/memory card

Hi!

I have one tiny question!
I'm about to make standalone Openbox desktop.
For FM I will use PCmanFM and I've found out that it does automounting job.
So the question is do I need volume manager such as skvm or udev rule or everything will work only with proper HAL policy and PCmanFM?

Thanks in advance smile

Why don't you try and see if you need a volume manager, and if not ask a specific question on how to use one?

Because my PC isn't functional right now (writing from sisters, Win 7) and I want to be fully prepared for my new one Arch only.

I didn't want to sound lazy smile
