No one has admitted that the problem is for everyone, nor that it doesn't exist but I, too, can't bring up the window menu, either with right click on the title bar or left click on the icon...

EDIT: Also, this does feel snappier!!

I got the right click on window title hangs metacity problem as well.
On the other hand right/left clicking on the Desktop icons works here.

Since I upgraded to 2.30, it takes about 12-15 seconds before gnome-panel appears and my desktop gets usable. This is after I clicked "login" on GDM.  I removed GDM and tried slim, just to see if there was a problem GDM, but I still got the same results.

Everything is great mostly. Except the gnome-power stuff seems messed up. UI icon won't show suspend or hibernate as an option anymore (even though it's ticked in gconf- both the new and old entry). EDIT: It does suspend after 2 hours, this was related to the other GREP upgrade issue, not Gnome.

Hi Arch Community! My first post.
The right click on tittlebar problem here too. The window flickers and does nothing. Otherwise no problems. Normal login speed, and no problems with icons.

Another couple problems on my laptop since the update.

Clock applet won't work, I get "The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_ClockApplet"

Also I use the mintmenu package from AUR and it fails to load with the same error as the clock applet, substituting "OAFIID:GNOME_mintMenu" into the error message.

Is it just me or did they remove a pane from the appearance window? It used to have four tabs, now there is three. Sucks cause you have to go into gconf to turn on icons in menus (like the system menu).

So far, I've had no major heartache.

The only thing that cost me a little time trying to find a solution was Nautilus showing volumes I want hidden in the the side-panel. I already had rules, but once again they were ignored after this upgrade (seems this is going to be a usual event based on the breakage caused when changing from policykit to devicekit to udisks ... what next?).

Anyway, once you find the correct info, it's easy to fix. For example, if you used this udev rule for  a particular volume under devicekit:

# Partition sda5 - hide from gnome
KERNEL=="sda5", ENV{DKD_PRESENTATION_HIDE}="1"
KERNEL=="sda5", ENV{DKD_PRESENTATION_NAME}="MyNew-VolumeName"

simply change it to:
# Partition sda5 - hide from gnome
KERNEL=="sda5", ENV{UDISKS_PRESENTATION_HIDE}="1"
KERNEL=="sda5", ENV{UDISKS_PRESENTATION_NAME}="MyNew-VolumeName"

Basically, all occurrences of 'DKD_' in your rules file need to be changed to 'UDISKS_'. After that, all is good.

Left or right clicking on the default desktop icons results in a redraw of the icons and nothing else, also if right clicking there is no context menu appearing either. By default icons I mean Computer, Home, Drives and Wastebasket.

Icons from files, folders and shortcuts I've put onto the desktop work as before.

The above is still a problem for me, any ideas on what this could be from and how it could be resolved? I am running Compiz and Emerald for decoration...

Working reasonably well for me, except the 20 second gnome startup time thing. (Fresh install, only installed gnome)
Noticed some occasional slowdowns when focusing an inactive window, doesn't happen all the time, but it's noticeable when it does.

Right click on titlebar is fixed for me aswell now.

I would have thought after all these years Gnome would be a little faster. Oh well.

I've the standard mouse cursor after the update, also the new Nautilus double-thingy has to be activated each time Nautilus starts and last but not least Compiz fails to autostart. But otherwise everything perfect.

Same for me, after the login sound it tooks 20-25 seconds to become usable.

Can both you guys please post comments on that fly spray task?  I originally opened it with a 10-15 sec delay.  Now that 2.30 is in place and running the delay has ballooned to over 30 sec!  Subsequent logins are under 2 seconds. I am starting gdm by the inittab method if that matters....

I've got strange behavior on my Gnome desktop (after update to 2.30).
After login the appearance is falling to ugly default and some shortcuts don't work for me anymore.
When I'm trying to open system -> preferences -> appearance (or keyboard shortcuts) my X server restarts.

Really? Well it doesn't work for me. I tried deleting all it's configs and reinstalling and it still doesn't work. The actions just don't appear.

Oh man, I'm really getting sick of this crap...

I didn't mean to imply that since it works for me, it must work for everybody.

I've got 8 active actions and 4 inactive actions. The active ones appear as they should in Nautilus (in the proper context) and the inactive ones only appear
in the nautilus-actions editor (in the new version they appear red to indicate inactive status). I hadn't checked before but several very annoying bugs in the GUI have also been fixed including one where using the delete key to delete a character had some really funky behavior and one where even after saving a profile you would be prompted to save every time you tried to exit).

I haven't tried nesting items in menus yet which is apparently a new feature (it's something I will find useful), but I did try the new feature of allowing the nautilus-action to appear when there is no selection. I have one action where this has always really been a requirement, but I used it in a compromised fashion because nautilus-actions didn't allow for this up until now. The action is used to open a directory in a new screen window (similar to open terminal here) but with the benefit of reducing the clutter by consolidating everything into screen.

I apologize, but right now I have no idea what might be wrong with your set-up. Hopefully, you'll get things sorted so you can also take advantage of the new features.
