RSS reader for gnome

Hey Everybody,

I've just downloaded and installes arch yesterday(unfortunate before the final version:D), i have previously used debian, and right before arch ubuntu(which sucked).

But i have been using the RSS reader, for a while, called blam, and I think it is good, nothing special, but is doing what it's supposed to.

I just realised blam isn't in the package list, so do you have any other suggestions as an RSS reader for gnome, or should I compile it myself(maeby see if i can make an PKGBUILD file)?

other (mono sucks) rss readers is straw and liferea that are in extra IIRC

What's wrong with mono?

Its everyone just likes to hate it because microsoft created it and put out their own programs for it......

its really not that evil. It provides an awesome framework for developing apps, and so far, from the apps i've seen it works perfectly fine..

why do you ask, if you have the reply?
As a matter of fact, why don't you try the opinions of Ballmer and Gates and rest of Top Men in MS about Free/Libre/Open source Software? Or even about Software Idea Patents.

so does python, and the python apps are great.

It's funny, the reason people *hate* mono, is because those people are idiots, just woke up one day and said: "Who do you want to hate today?" (TM)(R)(C)($)

iphutu, the point is not what you're using now or why. The point is why one should avoid playing (especially) MS game.
Just read the opinions of other people in this area and you'll understand much more by yourself.

How do you enable the notification area in liferea ? How looked for an option for it, with no luck.

there is one especially designed to sit in gnome notification area: http://yarssr.sourceforge.net/
i don't think there already exists a PKGBUILD for yarssr. i wanted to create one but it requires too many perl packages (i don't want to have installed)

I use an extension in Firefox for my RSS.

I just use the - Feedview - extension, and can just use them like any other bookmark in Firefox.

Just another suggestion, if you haven't tried it.
