[SOLVED]Can't mount USB flash drive

Hello all.

I recently bought an 8gb Patriot flash drive planning to transfer a bunch of files from my Arch laptop to my Windows desktop. It had sounded as though Arch would auto-mount the flash drive, but whenever I plug the drive in I get the following error.

I tried following the wiki, and found under /dev/disk/by-label a file named "PATRIOT". I then did "mkdir /mnt/usbstick", and tried "mount PATRIOT /mnt/usbstick". To which terminal outputs "mount: special device PATRIOT does not exist".

The drive also shows up in my file manager, but I get the same error whenever I try to click on it.

Help?

Re: [SOLVED]Can't mount USB flash drive

There are a couple of things you could try:

1. http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HAL … t_Problems

2. http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ude … unmounting

3. Depending on your DE/WM, start it with

exec ck-launch-session {Gnome,Xfce,KDE,etc}

Arch + dwm   •   Mercurial repos  •   Surfraw

#3 did it, added that to ~/.xinitrc, rebooted, and PATRIOT popped right up!

Thanks for the speedy response!
