xterm not resizing when switching between mutt & vi

Hi all,

Does anyone have any suggestions re the following problem?

When running mutt I generally use quite a long xterm so I can see all the email message without scrolling. Howver if I compose anew mail/reply using vi and then switch back into mutt, it appears as if mutt has "forgotten2 the xterm size and defaulted to its usual view (approx 80x40). If I drag the xterm mutt does resize but I would prefer it if this were not necessary.

found the following on the web  (http://www.mail-archive.com/mutt-users@ … 11600.html) but the mesage is quite old and I wonder if anyone else has the same problem and even better found a solution.

the .Xdefaults won't affect the resize-behavior.
I've seen reported that some subprocesses don't propagate SIGWINCH up
to the controlling terminal; that's a possibility here.

Re: xterm not resizing when switching between mutt & vi

Do you start the term, then mutt?  Or is the term started with mutt already in it?

If you start the term, then start mutt, change the size of the term before mutt is run.  Or, change the size of the term while mutt's running, not while vi is running in mutt.

It's just one of those things.

hi,

Just wanted to say thanks for correcting my stupidity - start xterm, resize it and _then_ start mutt.
