Firefox and blurry eye straining fonts.

Hello, I'm having some problems with the fonts on Firefox.

They look blurry and strain my eyes. I had a look at the wiki entry on firefox and tried what it suggested, but noticed no improvement.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Firefox and blurry eye straining fonts.

It's not an issue with firefox, it's an issue with font rendering.

Ubuntu got it right, and other distros are too stupid to use Ubuntu's patches.

Anyway, read the Gentoo thread (which I must have linked to about a thousand times) and it'll show you the way to gorgeous-looking fonts.

Re: Firefox and blurry eye straining fonts.

Did you read the page about font configuration:

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Font_Configuration

And is this problem only in Firefox?

Re: Firefox and blurry eye straining fonts.

It actually seems fine for most websites. (or I'm getting used to it) There is a couple it looks blurry on though.

EDIT: I think I fixed it or at least made it look better. With hinting off text on websites is perfect, but blurry in apps. With hinting on slight, it looks better on websites and apps, but it ain't perfect.

EDIT2: Just when I thought it was fine, I noticed something minor yet annoying. You know how when you type into the location bar on firefox your previous addresses pop up? It's jaggy and looks like it lacks anti-aliasing. Any idea how to fix it?

EDIT3: It apparently fixed itself. Go figure.
