Re: Hwd

with regards to uploading new versions of apps existing the trees already ....i would appreciate you email the maintainers to upgrade the packages rather than upload one to incoming. that is if the package has not been upgraded with a week or so.

personally i do not like having upgrade versions in incoming because:

a) it may be awhile before it is noticed by the maintainers as they do not always have time to browse incoming.

b) i am one of the people that is in charge of upload incoming packages to the trees after testing them and as well as maintaining multimedia and games in unofficial. i do not like having to do the work of the other maintainers or servicing their catagories without their consent.

just fyi.

Re: Hwd

Sorry..... did not know what's the procedure to upgrade. If the hotplug package in unoffical would have been rather new I would not have bother to upgrade. But dated 26-August-2002 I thought upgrading it with 5-August-2003 to have a newer package for Hwd. Before upgrading the package I wanted to contact contributor of the package (Rouslan Solomakhin), but on forum we only use user names.

For future information, how do I/we know who are the maintainers (if mentioned earlier,  then I missed it). In Usergroups (top menu) there are "admin", "Developers" and "Moderators" but not Maintainers.

I have uploaded hwd-1.4 in incoming because the dependency with hotplug didn't work. I made an independent hotplug for hwd-1.4. This allows Hwd to run on its own.

Re: Hwd

Version hwd-1.5-2 is uploaded in incoming. It is stable.

This version of hwd doesn't depend on hotplug if user doesn't need to detect USB devices (mice, storage, etc.). After install, there is a note about hotplug. Also a note appears when running hwd. If hotplug is required, it is currently in unofficial.

Originally I wanted hwd to include hotplug, as it was in ver. 1.2. But requires to force if hotplug is already installed.
