Most of the time that I get a new message notification in Thunderbird, this causes Pulseaudio to crash. Has anyone else experienced this?

Some more information. This is what is shown by pulseaudio -v just before it crashes
W: ratelimit.c: 5364 events suppressed
I: sink-input.c: Freeing input 5 "(null)"
I: client.c: Freed 15 "mozillaSound"
Killed
I'm using pulseaudio with a 5.1 surround sound setup. Flat volumes and glitch free are disabled.
Totem shows "pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated" but that is presumably just because pa already crashed
