Firefox and sound effects

How can I disable sound effects in Firefox?

For example, when right-clicking a link and clicking "open in a new tab" I hear a click. When closing a window with multiple tabs open I get a something like a "blip".

I'm using KDE and I have all other sound notifications disabled. No KDE application plays sound notifications, only Firefox does. I guess it could be related to Gnome, but I don't know how to turn the sounds of as I'm not using Gnome.

Re: Firefox and sound effects

There's a thread on this somewhere on here and then there's google and the Moziilla forums, I don't know the solution but if there is one it will have cropped up by now.

Re: Firefox and sound effects

I must have been the only person who was happy that firefox event sounds started working.  To find out how to turn off gtk event sounds completely, have a look at this thread: http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_fo … adId566319

Re: Firefox and sound effects

Thanks for your answer. I actually searched before starting this thread and didn't find anything, but it seems there was a thread about it anyhow.

I tried Google too, but found nothing really helpful. However this was here on Arch BBS:

Editing ~/.gtkrc-2.0

and adding the following line to it:

gtk-enable-event-sounds=0

and then restarting ff3.6 DOES turn the sound off, but it will turn off sound for ALL gtk apps.

Seems that has to do for now, unless somebody can give a different solution.
