I use mutt+esmtp to send email. After a recent upgrade (I'm not sure which package caused the problem -- several updated together), I get the following error message when attempting to send anything. The same message seems to come no matter which server I use.
Invalid peer certificate (error 20)

Any ideas?

What version of ca-certificates are you using? I was having some certificate-related problems that were fixed by doing:
sudo /usr/sbin/update-ca-certificates --fresh
This is done automatically on the most recent upgrade of ca-certificates. But you can try doing it manually and see if it helps.
