[xorg gdm] gdm doesn't start completely but startx works (resolved)

Hello,

I try to run xorg on a packard bell KAV60 netbook built zith an Intel 945GME Express chipset (rev 03)

My problem concerns starting gdm which seems to start well but ends up only showing a cursor (timer) which can be moved by the touchpad. Rest of the screen is black and no login window is shown.

On the other side, running startx works and starts default wm twm.

I use these versions :
- xorg-server-1.7.6-3-i686
-xf86-video-intel-2.9.1-1 (not the last versiopn 2.10.0-1 which does not permit to launch xorg)

Activating debug in /etc/gdm/custom.conf does not give very valuable info to find what's wrong :

Would someone have an idea about where to look to find what's wrong ?

Re: [xorg gdm] gdm doesn't start completely but startx works (resolved)

I've read this page http://projects.gnome.org/gdm/docs/2.14 … oting.html

I would like to do as they say, ie find the way gdm startx xorg but arch's gdm package doesn't contain the defaults.conf file where it should be indicated.
Any idea ?

Regards,
Mikael
