Map RockBand Drums to Play Sounds

I would like to make a little script that when I hit a pad on the rockband drums, a sound will play on the computer.
I'm going for a simple synth kind of thing and it would be preferable to do it without xorg.

My question is: What program should I look into?
I'm thinking the scipt will wait for an input then execute a program to play the sound based on that input.

I need to find a way out so everyone can find their way out.

If you managed to get it detected as a keyboard, you could use it with Hydrogen Drum Machine. You can play the sounds of this program just by pressing the letters of your keyboard, so, if you managed to get it to work as a keyboard, I guess that it will be a matter of assingning the right letters to the right pads.

Second for hydrogen, or maybe qsynth. Something to do with Jack, script-based would have very noticeable latency.

I see. I was thinking about that earlier with hitting two drum pads at the same time becoming a problem.
Thanks I'll look into hydrogen first.

I've just tried and it works great with Hydrogen. I mean, I can press multiple keys of my keyboard at the same time and they all sound at the same time.

I've ended up going with Drum > qjoypad > hydrogen for time's sake as I need it working tomorrow.
It's not the ideal solution but it works.
