Hi all! I'm opening this topic because I'm trying to have a 100% full working laptop, a Sony Vaio F11 series, but I have many problems:
1. Nvidia driver works only if you add these lines
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP-0"
Option "CustomEDID" "DFP-0: /proc/acpi/video/NGFX/LCD/EDID"to device section of xorg.conf, but I can't switch from X to bash (ctrl,alt,F1).
2. Brightness works with kde 4 adding this line under the device section of xorg.cong
Option "RegistryDwords" "EnableBrightnessControl=1", but I can't use fn keys to change it.
3. After I resumed from suspending I have a grey screen and i can't do nothing,but the system is still running.
4. Cpu fan is always working a lot.
5. I can't use multitouch on my touchpad.
That's all, a lot of problem, I hope someone can help me because I would like to clean my pc as soon as possible from windows.

I have just purchased the same laptop, have you managed to get the full functionality working with Archlinux?

Hi,
I have the same laptop. I can change the brightness with dbus, but I have no brightness control tab in gnome-power-manager.
The brightness applet doesn't work also.
I will do some further research if somebody can give me an advice where to look. (Must be somewhere between D-Bus, HAL and gnome-power-manager)

Hi all. I get full working laptop, a Sony Vaio F11 series.
0. Previously configure nvidia driver, in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Option "RegistryDwords" "EnableBrightnessControl=1"1. Find out the vendor string used by hal:
$ lshal | grep system.hardware.vendor(E.g.: system.hardware.vendor = 'Sony Corporation )
2. Find out the product string:
$ lshal | grep system.hardware.product(E.g.: system.hardware.product = 'VPCF113FX' )
3. Type:
sudo vim /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/10-laptop-panel-hardware.fdi4. Add this line

Huge thank you jneyra! I finally got my brightness working on my Vaio F12. It had been a pain in my butt for a month.
