[Solved] - b43 driver problem with BCM4312

So I have been trying to get rid of the wl driver since I have to rebuild it at every major kernel update. I just updated to the new kernel and I could not rebuild it so it is the best opportunity now. ( because the file autoconf.h , was moved I think so )
I followed the steps on the wiki to install the b43 driver, and actually when I do lsmod the driver is listed. So I know that it is being loaded. I try to connect to the network using netcfg and the error is:

 > WPA Authentication/Association Failed
                                                                         [FAIL]

I would like it to work! smile. I used wpa before ( with the wl driver ), so I think the configuration files should be OK. Is there something that I'm missing? how can I check?.

Whats your actual card?  What does lspci show you?  Did you check that it was 100% supported on the following page:

Thank you!, my card is broadcom 4312, the result of the command is:

05:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g (rev 01)

yes I checked that it was supported.

My next step would be to try and use wpa_supplicant on it's own and see what the actual error is.

OK, Nevermind the card is not supported. It is on the list, but I since it was listed under b43, I thought that it mean that it was supported. Sorry to waste your time... sad

Thank you very much!

Re: [Solved] - b43 driver problem with BCM4312

I actually had to install the wl driver again from the AUR, I installed the broadcom-wl-patched one because if I downloaded from the website I would receive an error from linux/autoconf.h missing. I have the impression from one of the posts I read that the file was moved in the new kernel, so unluckily I had problems rebuilding the driver. Nonetheless the one from the AUR worked, so I thank the person that patched for that.

Thanks again, liferafter2am smile
