Don't know if it has to do with the video card ( Im using Arch 64bit with GNOME, compiz and an "ATI Technologies Inc RV350 AP [Radeon 9600]" )
It also happened with other OS, but I had't had this promblem since long ago.

Perhaps your graphics card is overheating? Have you overclocked anything?

I had graphics that looked like that when I had the "amount of memory" setting for my videocard wrong in the BIOS, any chance that's your problem?

If the problem appears on Windows too is a problem with the hardware (probably).

1. Check BIOS, set to conservative settings (be careful)
2. Check for any noises and heating when this occurs (write it down)
3. Check online
4. Call/E-mail ATI
5. Replace
Of, course you want to avoid 4 & 5 if you can.
Personally, I'd rather be back in Hobbiton.

Is a good idea to mark the thread as Solved.

For the benefit of other users, you are obligated to post the steps you took in order to resolve the problem. See http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/For … way_Street.

Sorry I have the same problem again. Was thinking in cooling somehow the GPU. I use Ares with wine and the poineter etc work worse inside that window. May it have something to do?? :S
PD: For Peasantoid: you quote my "solution", I said the BIOS said 64 mb instead of 256, I can't do a manual, BIOS are not all the same.

It's ok don't worry
Itsbrad212: sorry for my english I'm from Argentina. I was trying to say that the cursor, icons, etc work well in most linux apps but not in ares, anyway sometimes i see the same thing on some firefox icons, like the one you have in the navigation tolbar before the domain name. When I changed the BIOS setting and rebooted everything was ok, but the day after the same problem appeared.
Thanks for helping
