sad I was updating my system and the connection was low I had stop the update process abruptly I just closed the terminal and now I am getting this error message whenever I want to run  #pacman -Syu or -Syy

error: failed to init transaction (unable to lock database)
if you are sure a package manager is not already running, you can remove /var/lib/pacman/db.lck hmm

Re: pacman

I suggest you read: http://www.linuxcommand.org/

Edit: and also reconsider if Arch is the right distribution for you.  It is really not a beginners distribution and you will be forced to do some things from the terminal.

Re: pacman

I agree with zowki, it's the newbies' section, it's not surprising that some persons ask this kind of questions smile

Re: pacman

Yes it is...   if you do not know what the "rm" command is, you have a long way to go.  And unless you are prepared to google the answer for yourself, Arch is probably not the place for you.

Re: pacman

Yeah, I totally agree with you, I don't well think about the difference between newbie and newbie.

Now it's done, it's a fact that it's a newbie section, but somehow experienced beginners wink

Re: pacman

I'm glad this is sorted, but next time, use a more descriptive post title.  This would help those who actually do take the time to google their problems.

archlinux - please read this and this — twice — then ask questions.
