acer 1810tz video output problems intel 4500mhd

I cannot get video output on my acer 1810tz via both hdmi and vga - no signal as far as I can tell. According to this ubuntu wiki article there are no known problem with video out:

and I have installed the display package as suggested by this wiki article:

I don't have an xorg.conf as the auto-detect seems to work for me (other than this).

and how did you try to switch video output? anything happened? xrandr?

I have only used the normal display and hdmi until now, worked without a problem. Xorg with no config.

$  xrandr --output HDMI1 --auto

xrandr output with no device connected.

$  xrandr
