X would not start, couldn't find libcrypto so.0.9.8 , so i made a symlink to the existing libcrypto.so 1.0.0 and everything was fine.
Funny though that libcrypto wasn't updated at all this time around. Maybe it's part of something else.

Οf course you WON'T do what the OP in that did, not that in the first post, not that in the last.
Choose an appropriate mirror (like Server = ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/$repo/os/x86_64 <-- or i686 if you have 32bit system) and fully upgrade your system.

Didn't do it for me, still need the syms. Guess it'll sort itself out in time.
EDIT : Oops, i know what happened, since the last upgrade froze X, i blacklisted anything X and there you have it. One beautiful sunday i'll try the whole thing and see, i can always revert if it's still bad.
