got a small problem. i want to install the poulsbo driver for my A751 (xorg-x11-drv-psb).
when trying to install it from ixars repo i am told that libdrm-psb conflicts with libdrm
i uninstalled xorg and libgl to uninstall libdrm
when i install the driver now i get the error that libgl requires libdrm above 2.4.17-2
is this my fault?:o

I'm not answering directly to your question, but I think psb driver is deprecated...you can get better results with IEGD from intel.
have a look here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=78719
It's a long topic but in the end you should find the way to get that (f***ing) card working...if you need help feel free to ask me.

That driver is a broken, buggy, and badly coded piece of crap. You asked why it works under Ubuntu and not Arch. First, Ubuntu isn't a rolling release, so patching crappy code is easier. Second, Dell hacked the driver using Ubuntu for Ubuntu so they can sell their netbooks for cheap.
Dell --> Fail
Intel --> Fail
Ubuntu --> Did the best that they can under the circumstances. A+

I don't think arch linux is the best release if you are in a hurry (despite lot's of people here would say exactly the opposite )

you can try building IEGD module againt 2.6.31 kernel but I couldn't get a working driver that way.
good luck,
bye,
Pietro
