OK the easter holidays are over and so i have to get some productive work done easy and fast, no more config file hacks for hours on end :mad::mad:
So kde 3.5 was a tried and tested rock solid desktop. KDE 4 is finally ready for production, but I want/need my panel to behave, i want it so that each block will have two rows ( so if i have 2 terminals open, one window takes one half of the panel and the other takes the other like:
http://www.kde.org/screenshots/images/3.5/03-kicker.png
notice the two konqueror windows minimized in the panel (Just notice its glory)

right click on taskbar, select task manager settings, then check force row settings, click ok and boom. if it will look bad just make your panel bigger.

transparency of plasma stuff(e.g.panel) depends on compositing and is entirely controlled by the theme.

Knock yourself out:

Transparent themes:

I believe they all could be queried and installed from within KDE. Working from memory, right click the desktop->settings->plasma themes.
