No Raid or Network Adapter

I am not sure what topic to post this I think it might have something to do with a recent upgrade.  Everynight I execute pacman -Syy and then pacman -Syu and if everything looks okay then accept the package upgrades.  My problem is that today when I come home from work xscreensaver is unresponsive, the whole system is frozen.  I tried to ssh in and it would not accept the connection.  So I restart the computer.

/dev/sda where the OS is installed complains about the file system not being okay after a unclean reboot.  I go through a process of fsck-ing the file system and it returns that everything has been fixed.  I restart my computer and it still complains, so I just restart and then everything seems to be working.

I login to my system notice that the command "mdadm --assemble /dev/md0 /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdc1" returns with the following error:
"mdadm: unexpected failure opening /dev/md0"

Then I try to start my network with a "dhcpcd eth0" and I get a "dchcpcd: eth0: interface not found or invalid"

When I restart the computer with the ArchLinux Install CD I can start my raid and network just fine.  I have tried to use the ArchLinux Fallback option on boot but it does not help.  What could be the problem?

Re: No Raid or Network Adapter

Perhaps /etc/mdadm.conf will give some info.

Perhaps the eth0 problem is loss of internet connection ...check /etc/rc.conf.....

Try another..... pacman -Syy.....

Re: No Raid or Network Adapter

I got the problem resolved.  I booted up with the arch cd and mounted my root and boot partitions.  Then chroot into it.  After chrooting I executed pacman -S kernel26 and then rebooted. Now everything works.
