[SOLVED] Amarok fails to start / crashes while starting
Hello,
Amarok on my primary Arch x86_64 machine just started to fail staring. It probably is not caused by some upgrade, as downgrading related recently upgraded packages (mysql, phonon) didn't help. Removing of /.kde4/share/apps/amarok* and /.kde4/share/config/amarok* stuff didn't help either. I tried to log in with clear .kde4, which seemed to help, but as I had everything configurend and done some reboots, the problem appeared again. When I run amarok, splashscreen shows up, then the window pops up and disappears. No crash report from drkonqui is displayed though.

Thanx for suggestion, linked bugs don't seem to be related. Tried to look through latest problems, but they don't seem similar either. Will try actual git, if by any chance... Srange that other box seems to work fine.

Did you try amarok --debug?
/Ehm proč to píšu anglicky, když jsme oba češi :-) Ale Amarok je děsnej, každou chvíli kvůli něčemu nefunguje a z těchdle výpisů nikdy netuším, co se mu nelíbí... Jednou Dbus, podruhý mu vadilo, že mi nefungovala KWallet, která by s ním neměla mít žádnou souvislost... Takže doporučuju se mrknout, co jinýho ti v systému blbne a třeba ho zkus přeinstalovat... Ale v tom výpisu mu chyběly nějaký soubory u tebe ve složce a bylo tam nějaký vadný kódování, nemůže to být tim?/

Hello, I'll stick with english, if anyone had the problem, so he'd understand. I tried --debug, though it seemed to me it gave no interesting info -- at least for me. I have exactly same music collection at my netbook, with ~/.kde4/share/apps/amarok synced to it, and it works fine. It also printed out same errors about the files. Only LaTeX was currently malfunctioning because of some missing simlink, though it seems ok, after gcc and stuff upgrade.
Anyways, after building amarok from [aur]/amarok-git, it started correctly. Well, I will not celebrate yet, but I mark this [solved], I guess. Will reopen, if the strange behaviour returns.

As I thought, too early to celebrate. After turning it off and on a few times, the amarok fails to start again.

No idea, but run --debug and submit a bug report to the amarok devs & ask on the amarok forums. The devs there are pretty responsive and helpful, in my experience.
