Hi!
I've solved most of my touchpad problems as noted in another post (enabling xorg 1.8 with no xorg.conf, long story short), but now I must enable tap-to-click each and every time I log in.
How can I make this the default behaviour?
Thanx!

If you're still using xorg 1.8, You can add a ruleset to the xorg.conf.d directory. The wiki has an example for enabling tap-to-click here. or so. You would just put that information into a file in xorg.conf.d and you should have tapping enabled.

The 10-synaptics.conf file has that settings written inside, from the beginning, as I can remember now by seeing it, and the problem is still here, at least in Gnome, as far as I can tell.
By the way, the laptop is a MSI VR340, and the touchpad is reported as synaptics.
Any more ideas???

if you have gnome all the settings for keyboard/mouse/touchad are overwritten. Just go to System->preferences->Mouse and Touchpad tab to enable tap. Check Enable mouse clicks with touchpad

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

@wonder:
Already done what you say each and every time I log in. The next time I log in tap-to-click is NOT enabled... This setting is just not preserved.

Confirmed> it's a Gnome problem. XFCE receives tap/to/click from the beginning...

The solution was enabling Tap-to-click checkbox using Gconf-editor. This should be less manual...
