Its all done via a config file that is in your home directory.
Check out this thread for LOTS of examples:

i've set up a conky "theme" but get boxes in random places, im pretty sure its a font issue but every single conky "theme" ive tried gives me that issue, see the screenshot below for an example

Yes - use only fonts that are installed on your system. And please do not post full sized screen shots, use thumbnails:
Offline
sorry >_> ive tried pacman -S *fontname* but nothing comes up guess i have to compile them myself, or...?
Offline
I tell you what, you replace that billboard with a thumbnail, and I'll tell you what the magic command is to install the fonts you need.
Note: you'll need to tell me the names of the fonts...

I'm almost around to 500!
Anyway, I usually keep my conky config links in my signature. I think the one in there now is a config that accents dark themes well. You may want to check it out

that didnt seem to work
still have random boxes, and those are the only fonts listed.
Offline
Did you reload your font cache?
Offline
no i did not, how do i do that?
Offline
The wiki has a good page on fonts that explains that and more...
Offline
that didnt work either, would it have to do with xft?
Offline
I wouldn't think so: post your .conkyrc

Try it with
xftfont: Liberation sans:size=8
To see if that works...
Offline
nope that doesnt work

I am assuming that you have gmpc/mpd installed - otherwise, there is nothing in the conkyrc that suggests why it would be doing it. If that is the case, I'd start from a very vanilla conky, and build it up bit-by-bit until you have the functionality that you want...

gmpc?
Offline
There is a section in your conkyrc about displaying music:
${if_running gmpc}
${color0}MPD - Status: <${mpd_status}> PCM Vol: ${mpd_vol}% ${hr 1}$color
Artist : ${mpd_artist}
Album : ${mpd_album}
Track : ${mpd_track}
Title : ${mpd_title}
${mpd_bar 15}
Progress: ${mpd_percent}% | ${mpd_elapsed} / ${mpd_length}
${endif}
While it is a conditional, I asked because -in cases where people copy other conkyrc- it is important that they are calling functions that exist on that machine. You really should read all the conky documentation and then build a script that satisfies your needs for the machine that you are running.

i removed that, still getting the boxes
