Ok, i read the wiki...
But I'm a newbie, and a bit confusing after read the article.
This is the proble: i want to install an application which needs java (pdfsam, or sampdf, or something similar, I don't remembar, it's a useful pdf tools in AUR). What I have to install?
Are there other guides to java for arch linux different (or complementary) to that of wiki?

pacman -S jre jdk
or
pacman -S openjdk6
But if you are using aur, pacman should handle the deps for you.

Problems during installation of pdfsam.
Indeed, after the command
makepkg --asroot -s
I'm asked to installopenjdk6 and apache-ant. Then it download pdfsam from sourceforge. After that, checksum etc... Everything ok until now.
But then, I will receive an error.
ant: command not found ==> ERROR: Build Failed.
Some helps?
EDIT: problem solved, after restart even the build process was all right. I successfully install pdfsam [my first AUR program, I'm very newbie :-)]

I'm sorry, I forgot I was in the English forum!
Now I will edit my previous posts.
The problem is actually solved. After restart, everything works fine. Maybe, a restart is needed after java installation.
Thanks for all :-)

Sounds like a path issue, simply logging out/in or sourcing /etc/profile.d/{jre,jdk}.sh achieves the same as a reboot.
