mute not working when headphones plugged in

Hi,

when my headphones are plugged into my laptop mute isn't working. Neither per amixer set nor per alsamixer interface.
Volume control works though.

Any idea what I'm missing?

P.S.: aplay, lspci and amixer information:

Re: mute not working when headphones plugged in

You probably need to try the various 'model=XXX' settings for your particular chip.  Try adding

options snd-hda-intel model=auto

to your '/etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf' file and restart the sound driver.

ie.
modprobe -r snd-hda-intel
modprobe snd-hda-intel

Re: mute not working when headphones plugged in

The model=auto option was actually the only thing i found on the internet that looked related and/or promising so i already tried that.
Sadly, it didn't help.

Even if you mute the PCM channel ?

There's no such option for my PCM channel. Can't mute it.

It might be unrelated, but something that struck me as strange is the that there's no more volume support by my acpi-module.

> c /proc/acpi/ibm/volume
level: unsupported
mute: off

Before 2.6.33 thinkpad-acpi has always been able to control the volume. However that might just be because tpacpi is switching its interface more and more to /sys instead of /proc.

Any more ideas?
