Xorg-> (EE) interl(0): No kernel modesetting driver detected *

Hi guys, me again looking for help. I just did a pacman -S libgl , pacman -S xorg , pacman -S mesa .... and then I did a lspci | grep VGA and got the following: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82G33/G31 Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 10)

Then I did this: pacman -S xorg-video-drivers

Now I'm trying to do this: Xorg -configure , but I get this:
(++) Using config file: "/root/xorg.conf.new"
(EE) interl(0): No kernel modesetting driver detected

And when I try to X -config /root/xorg.conf.new I get this:
(EE) interl(0): No kernel modesetting driver detected.
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

Fatal server error:
no screens found

So I really don't know what to do. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Why are you doing a 'pacman -S' and not 'pacman -Sy'?  When is the last time you did a 'pacman -Syu'?

First of all: Don't do pacman -Sy when installing packages! It can lead to dependency issues. Just do an -Syu and then a normal -S to install.

Secondly, I think you should have used the "xf86-video-intel" package, instead of cluttering your system with all those drivers.

Thirdly: maybe have a look at this: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beg … _Install_X and this: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel

Edit: Ah, forgot: maybe you should try to start X first without the configure step. If everything's set up properly, you may not need a xorg.conf.

Don't do a

 pacman -S xorg-video-drivers

so remove those and just install this:

pacman -S xf86-video-intel

How old is your computer? It seems pretty old to me.
