[Solved] Periodic keyboard input lag

I have a strange problem that affects X11, but apparently not the console. Every few minutes, for anywhere from 1-3 seconds, any and all keyboard input will be either deferred or simply ignored. For example: every so often in Warsow my character will suddenly stop moving, or will move in the last direction I was travelling in for several seconds before stopping. It started after I installed xserver 1.8 from testing, but persisted after I downgraded. I reinstalled Arch (though that was because of another problem), with the xserver from extra and the problem persisted. It's most noticeable playing games, but it seems to be an X problem in general. This only happens on my desktop machine. I'm not really sure what to try. Any suggestions?

Some basic info: my keyboard is a Logitech wireless EX110. Video card is an Nvidia 8500GT using closed source drivers. Desktop is fully up to date and running KDE.

Re: [Solved] Periodic keyboard input lag

Is there hard drive activity during the pauses?

Anyway, I recommend pf kernel patchset. Even if it doesn't solve this particular problem, you'll end up with a smoother desktop experience in general.

Re: [Solved] Periodic keyboard input lag

Edit: I spoke too soon tongue Pf might have made my desktop smoother, but it didn't help my problem. Neither did ck. To answer your question brebs, there isn't usually any drive activity associated with the lag. Nothing other than the usual activity with loading the game. I also see this problem in Dwarf Fortress

Edit 2: Problem solved by replacing the keyboard. Thanks for your suggestions. Don't buy cheap keyboards people tongue
