Sacred & Wine, low fps

Hi all, i installed Sacred and i'm trying to play it with Wine...
The game works, but it's very slow, i think that's too slow being a pretty old game...
I've tried launching it from the terminal and i get lots of errors like this:

err:d3d:context_check_fbo_status FBO 0 is incomplete, driver bug?
fixme:d3d:debug_fbostatus Unrecognied FBO status 0x00000000
fixme:d3d:context_check_fbo_status FBO status unrecognized (0)
err:d3d:context_check_fbo_status FBO 0 is incomplete, driver bug?
fixme:d3d:debug_fbostatus Unrecognied FBO status 0x00000000
fixme:d3d:context_check_fbo_status FBO status unrecognized (0)

and, after lots of lines with the same text, i get this:

fixme:font:WineEngRemoveFontResourceEx (L".\\FONT\\ANTQS__.TTF", 0, (nil)): stub
fixme:font:WineEngRemoveFontResourceEx (L".\\FONT\\CAROLING.TTF", 0, (nil)): stub
X Error of failed request: GLXBadContextTag

Minor opcode of failed request: 117 (X_GLXGetIntegerv)
Serial number of failed request: 196560
Current serial number in output stream: 196560

What can i do?
I have a 2.3 dual core CPU, 4Gb RAM and an ATI HD4350, i think it should run fine...

Re: Sacred & Wine, low fps

Which video driver are you running ?

If you are using the radeon driver then a low performance is no big wonder since the drivers are dogslow compared to fglrx. sad

Esp. in combination with WINE they have certain issues, e.g. games do not run with the D3D to OpenGL wrapper although the normally run fine with fglrx.

Unfortunately ATI has a bad reputation in combination with WINE. Be it with fglrx or (IMO currently even worse) with radeon driver.

What you can do ?

Toss out your ATI card and put in a cheap previous-previous generation NVidia board (e.g. 7900GS / 8600 GTS).
If you run the radeon driver the cheapest solution might be to use fglrx instead.

Re: Sacred & Wine, low fps

Keeping a small Windows partition in dual boot for gaming is still a good idea if you want maximum performance.

As you can see from my signature I have an ATI HD4670. Under Windows the performance is in between a GeForce 9600GT and a GeForce 9600GSO.
Under Linux with the radeon driver the card is much slower than the GeForce 7900GS with closed source NVidia driver I use on my other Ubuntu system.
