claws is in (or was in) the unstable repo.

A development package should never be in extra or current unless it is completely unavoidable.

You can also make a development version, if you like, with abs.

nope, claws is a feature extended version, not a beautified smile.
There exist gtk2 enabled versions of sylpheed as well as sylpheed-claws in their cvs. Many people say they are working well. Anyway, I like to keep it the way we have it currently. Now when sylpheeds have hit version 1.0 gtk2 will become in focus of the authors. At least that's what i gathered from their webpages. Official Arch packages will wait until gtk2 syslpheeds become really official.

btw, there is a syslpheed-gtk2 in staging, iirc. But it is not really stable for me.
