[solved] wine and Alsa

Howdie,

I finally managed to install wine on my pretty fresh x86_64 install of Arch. Now, I installed World of Warcraft just fine, and it plays pretty near perfect (around or over 50fps at full video quality in Stormwind works for me) except: There is no sound.

I am only mildly surprised at this since even winecfg does not give me the option of picking Alsa as a sound backend, only oss, and even then the selection looks a bit off, compared to what I remember from Alsa.

Now, I USE alsa, or at least I suppose so since the wiki entry for installing KDE recommends so. KDE sound settings show phonon as sound backend. Sound works fine in the rest of the system.

Where do I start looking?

Openbox running of xinit here, i got the same issue.
Winecfg does not detect alsa, and can not be selected.

Re: [solved] wine and Alsa

You don't even say how you installed wine, chroot or lib32? Please go search more about your chosen method for installing wine, there's special steps to be taken with regards to getting sound working.

Re: [solved] wine and Alsa

Running 64-bit Arch.
Wine installed via archgames, lib32 of all dependancies should be installed.
Using a older /home folder, it worked back on fedora.

On to more interisitng errors:

$winecfg
err:module:load_builtin_dll failed to load .so lib for builtin L"winealsa.drv": libasound.so.2: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
fixme:jack:JACK_drvLoad error loading the jack library libjack.so.0, please install this library to use jack
err:module:load_builtin_dll failed to load .so lib for builtin L"wineesd.drv": libesd.so.0: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64

This error is spawned by going to the soundtab on winecfg.

Re: [solved] wine and Alsa

Well thanks to del_diablo, I believe. That fixed it.
Actually I also had to start with a fresh Config.wtf, but that was easily enough to figure out smile

Thanks all of you.

Oh, btw: I had bin32-wine installed through AUR, a pain in the back if I may say. The wiki seemed to mention nothing about any hickups there, so I would think diablo is right smile
