Making The Change

Hi All

Well having spent the past 6 months getting to grips with Linux & Xubuntu, i have decided to make the change to Archlinux (ooo i like a challenge), so wish me luck people ... haha

Oh i have a question, i tried the net install through virtualbox first, just to see if i liked and when i get to the packages stage, i only get two choices, base and base-develop ....

Is this correct ...... ?

Re: Making The Change

That is correct. The installer gives you a base install, you can add whatever you like afterwards. All you need to know to get started is in the Beginners' Guide. Good luck!

Yes, please don't ask questions without checking the wiki and searching google first. Documentation is meant to be read.

Re: Making The Change

Yes, it is highly recomended that you check both boxes (by using the space bar). After that you can just continue with the installation, you really don't need to install any other packages from that list, unless you know you'll be using them.

Be sure to follow along with http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners'_Guide It makes installing the system much easier, and helps you configure everything from start to finish.

Don't worry, the worst is yet to come. smile
