Any ideas whether this si an issue or not, as far as I can see everything is fine but it would be nice if everything worked.

Re: ATi Radeon HD5770 issue with Xorg

What video driver are you using?  I'm guessing you are using the catalyst driver which may not support your video card.  Try using the xf86-video-ati driver (pacman -S xf86-video-ati).  You may have to uninstall your old driver and re-boot.

There are no errors, exactly what is the problem?

Re: ATi Radeon HD5770 issue with Xorg

Sorry to bump this thread, but I'm having a nearly identical problem running catalyst 10.7 with my hd5770 as well. The problem is that startx blacks out the screen and terminates shortly thereafter, leaving only the "fglrx: no matching device section" lines on the screen.

The strangest part is that when I "su; startx", X starts up fine, but when I run it as user, or through sudo, it fails. When it fails, Xorg.0.log looks similar to above, except with this tacked on the end

When I run as root, the log terminates after complaining about PCS.

This has obviously got to be a permissions problem right? I just can't think of what it would be. I would greatly appreciate any help.
