Fonts not getting the smooth effect on xfce desktop

Please see the screenshot - http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/2742 … 012315.png. You can see the characters are not rendered smoothly. And the firefox window looks very old.

What should I do to get a decent font rendering and decent look for firefox? Do I need to install some theme engine? I have gnome and xfce installed. I am using xfce.

Any help?

It looks fine to me as well, but I think I know what bothers you. Try installing cairo-lcd from AUR.

The fonts in the screenshot look fine to me too.

You can change Xfce's font rendering options in Settings > Appearance > Fonts.

Read the huge Gentoo thread. Then look at the *-ubuntu packages on the AUR.
