errors.log

new installation, had run through the install wiki initally but have gone back to a fresh install with no extra packages installed yet to try and iron out a few errors.

1. k10temp 0000:00:18.3 unreliable CPU thermal sensor; monitoring disabled (I understand this is quite likely a straightforward error in what its saying so not worried about this one)

2. r600_cp: Failed to load firmware "radeon/r700_rlc.bin" - what is the story here! note havn't installed radeon HD driver yet but I think from history this didn't make a difference.??

3. drm:rv770_startup error failed to load firmware! - what specifically is this, fix?

4. radeon 0000:01:00.0 disabling GPU acceleration - what can I do to fix this

Note would like to fix this up before I install reinstall - X and then tackle any errors there if there are any...

Re: errors.log

you might want to update to testing and do pacman -S linux-firmware.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Beginners' Guide wrote:

[testing]

The [testing] repository contains packages that are candidates for the [core] or [extra] repositories. New packages go into [testing] if:

* they are expected to break something on update and need to be tested first.

* they require other packages to be rebuilt. In this case, all packages that need to be rebuilt are put into [testing] first and when all rebuilds are done, they are moved back to the other repositories.

You need more that this to "updated to testing", but if you can find the needed info is better to not use it
