Akonadi is also extremely slow here, though I think that might be to do with it waiting around for nepomuk.
Oh wow... the speed-up gained by using an external mysql server is ridiculous... I'm guessing there's something wrong with the built-in mysql configuration.

I built kdepim 4.4.93 using PKGBUILD and kdepim.install updated by Andrea (I only had to replace the source url which was not working with the ftp.kde.org one). It seems that there are some improvements for the online imap account: faster, deleting email and marking them as read work. Currently, I am trying to create a disconnected imap account. I hope syncing will complete successfully.
I built the packages for x86_64 using makepkg in a real environment (no chroot) with kde 4.5.1 installed. If you want, I can share the packages I built.

it just failed... :-( akonadi_imap_resource suddenly died

so IMAP works? good.
Sorry, but due to some KDE 4.5.1 rebuild (kdesdk, kde-l10n,...) I lost time and I am still building the packages. I hope to release it in some hour for both arches.

Yeah, I would say online (i.e., not cached) IMAP works pretty good. There are still bugs, of course (e.g., some emails are threaded with unknown date in 4.4.93 while being correctly threaded in kmail 4.4.5), but I would say it is usable.

Hello.
Are there any plans to start this repo again soon, eg. 4.6 beta1 which is coming on Nov18?
Offline
of course. 24th November (release date) I'll upload the first beta of 4.6 series

Wow. Thats good news. T-9

is anyone using kmail from trunk? Will it be safe to migrate from 4.4 with the first beta?

@bash: thank you so much!
@wu: I built kdepim from kde 4.5 branch as of one month ago (since then no big changes were committed to this branch, developers started focusing on trunk) and I have to say it is quite better and faster than kdepim 4.5beta3 (4.4.93). So, I expect kdepim 4.6 to be fast and shining :-)

Well, my main concern is stability rather than "fast and shining"
Hope to see improvements soon!

Odd that you're looking at kde-unstable then

I would say the version I am running is quite stable (using online IMAP here). I don't recall the last time it crashed (if it ever did), messages are sent and received reliably, cpu usage is rather low. I am using this unstable version every day without troubles. There are of course many glitches to solve, but, as I said, I am confident most of them are already solved in trunk.

Checking doesn't mean I'm using it

I am updating soprano, akonadi, polkit-qt to development versions that could break your system. This repo shouldn't be used until we announce it in arch-dev-public. Use it at own risk.
Closed.
