[SOLVED] X won't start after today's upgrade.

Hi Everyone.

Did a pacman -Syu today and the following packages were updated :

[2010-05-28 08:41] upgraded dash (0.5.5.1-2 -> 0.5.6-1)
[2010-05-28 08:41] upgraded gvfs (1.6.1-1 -> 1.6.2-1)
[2010-05-28 08:41] upgraded libpng (1.4.1-1 -> 1.4.2-1)
[2010-05-28 08:41] upgraded telepathy-farsight (0.0.13-1 -> 0.0.14-1).

After that, system hangs on trying to load KDM (blank screen, no ttys, no keyboard, no mouse).
Booting to init 3 (parsing the 3 switch to the kernel line) works fine, but trying to enter init 5
from cli produces the same result as above.

I've downgraded both gvfs and libpng to their original versions but the problem still remains.

The first real problem i had with arch after almost 2 year extensive use.

I apologize for this.
It was a weird hardware problem after all. Installing a spare nvidia G210 solved it.

I actually have the same problem...  I'm using SLIM.  The system completely freezes on login.  Any help would be appreciated.

It's unlikely it is the same hardware problem.  I would advise starting a new thread with details of any errors, logs and updates which you've applied recently.

Woops, very sorry.  It was a hal problem.
